Anemone is a designer swim & resort wear brand based in Los Angeles. The brand is a collaboration between Lauren Arapage, a former press officer with Stella McCartney and Joshua Shaub, former buying director at Moda Operandi. Our collections blend the laid-back ease of the West Coast (we both grew up in Southern California) with the edginess of New York cool (where we both built our fashion careers).
Anemone draws inspiration from the clean lines and aesthetic of ‘90s designer fashion. Many of the swimsuits were inspired by ready-to-wear of the ‘90s as well as elements of French lingerie. For High Summer 2020, the collection underscores Anemone’s aesthetic and its reverence for ’90s simplicity while combining it with the influence of 1970’s Sud de France and Southern California’s heritage of surf and skate style. We expanded our swim offering with nine additional silhouettes, as well as our resort wear offering with eight additional ready-to-wear styles.
This season’s swimwear features the clean lines and ’70s inspiration now signature to our brand while paying homage to ’70s icons, including Jane Birkin (The Jane Bikini Top) and Jessica Lange (The Lange Halter One Piece). These references are most visible in plunging silhouettes, exaggerated collars, and tortoise shell details. The color palette of our fine Italian fabric pairs earthy hues-from espresso brown to deep rusts–with saturated sea tones and bright whites inspired by the laid-back feel of California beach towns. An abstract tiger print strikes a playful and sultry note, and sits perfectly alongside the leopard print which remains perennial in the collection – the fabric for these prints is imported from Brazil and sustainably made from recycled elastane. This collection also features one new abstract hand-designed Anemone embroidery-our namesake flower. As always, all of our suits are eco-friendly and sustainable, designed with built-in UV 50+ protection and produced locally in LA. Our swimwear starts at $125 for separates and $235 for one pieces.
The debut collection launched in November 2018 and current stockists include Net-A-Porter, Moda Operandi, Goop, Browns, LUISAVIAROMA, Intermix, Elyse Walker, The Westside & more.
